Admission to the Honors Program
Your Honors application should highlight your interest in ChattState’s Honors Program and your capability to thrive in a rigorous academic environment. Admission decisions are based on a holistic review of your achievements, intellectual potential, leadership experience and commitment to academic excellence. The review considers these factors:
Your motivation to achieve
Your ability to communicate effectively
A strong academic transcript or evidence of recent improvement.
High School GPA (Fill in GPA only if you do not have a college transcript with at least 12 credit hours).
If applicable, College GPA
Choose one of the following prompts and submit a writing sample of at least 250 words. This should be in your own words. All paraphrases or quotes need to be cited.
a. Scientific progress, technological innovation, or ethical responsibility- choose one and argue why it is the most important consideration for society’s future.
b. Describe a conversation that changed how you see the world.
c. Imagine a world where one major scientific principle no longer applies (e.g. gravity, evolution, thermodynamics). Describe how society would adapt.
d. Invent a holiday that reflects your personality or values. What traditions would people follow- and what food would absolutely be required?
e. Choose a fictional character (from books, movies, or games) to be your college roommate. How would you get along- and what would they teach you?
